Thorpe Park Resort has today submitted detailed plans for an all new hotel to be built in time for the spring 2018 season.

The new development will see a 250 bed hotel built on the former CEMEX Chertsey plant site, which is situated on the opposite side of the lake, and will incorporate a range of additional facilities including a leisure suite and spa, conference facilities, restaurants and bars, and dedicated car parking. Guests will be able to travel to the theme park using a dedicated boat transfer across the lake.

If granted, the new hotel will be built in two phases. The first consisting of a 150 room hotel with bar, restaurant, café, and the first part of the health club. Phase two will add the remaining 100 rooms and complete the health club started as part of phase one.

This application is the latest stage in a long term plan to install a permanent form of accommodation at the resort. Initial outline plans were originally submitted back in August 2006, however these were not approved until the June of 2011. Later in 2011 the resort submitted a minor amendment to gain permission to develop the hotel in two phases and this was approved in August 2013. After gaining this approval Thorpe Park Resort held a public exhibition allowing local residents to express their opinions on the new development. Responses from this exhibition were positive, with many residents supporting the development and the benefits it would bring to the area.

Ultimately, the new accommodation aims to transform the resort into a short break holiday destination whilst creating hundreds of new jobs in the local area. If approved it is expected work will commence in the summer of 2016.
