Leading British animation studio, Aardman Animations Ltd, have signed an agreement which could potentially see a range of family favourite characters come to London Paramount Entertainment Resort.

The Memorandum of Understanding (a form of agreement where two parties agree to a potential common course of action with a view to forming a firmer agreement in the future), paves the way for the use of some of Aardman Animations’ most famous characters to be used throughout the proposed Entertainment resort. With a wide range of multi-award winning IPs to choose from, the Resort could feature well known characters such as Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Morph, as well as draw upon feature films and television series including Chicken Run, Arthur Christmas and Creature Comforts.

David Testa, Director of London Resort Company Holdings, said:

Today’s agreement is fantastic news for everyone involved. Our vision for the London Paramount Entertainment Resort ‎is to create a world-class destination that combines the glamour of Hollywood with the best of British culture. Our agreement with Aardman will bring a number of the nation’s favourite characters to the resort and introduce them to a whole new international audience.

Sean Clarke Head of Rights and Brand Development at Aardman Studios, said:

Aardman is proud of its British heritage and ability to make award-winning films and TV series that entertain audiences all over the world. This is a great foundation on which to work with LRCH, with a view to creating a range of highly entertaining and immersive attractions with our brands at the London Paramount Entertainment resort.

This latest announcement follows on from the agreements already signed with BBC Worldwide and Paramount Pictures, and is in line with the resort’s vision to include the ‘best of British’ alongside the glamour of Hollywood and giving developers an ever increasing pool of IPs to choose from. The announcement also coincides with the beginning of the third round of consultations for the development with a series of workshops currently taking place on a range of topics surrounding the resort.
