2017 is set to be a busy year for Legoland Windsor Resort with not only the opening of the new Castle Hotel, but also the addition of a brand new area, LEGO® NINJAGO™ World. SouthParks looks at all the latest details to emerge about 2017’s new additions as well as the progress on construction of both developments which could be seen during the Resort’s Christmas event.
With groundwork having commenced back in October, work on the main structures for LEGO® NINJAGO™ World is now progressing steadily with the framework for the main ride building now in place. Within the main structure work is taking place to install the concrete floor which will ensure a level surface is in place ready for when the interior work begins. Elsewhere in the area foundations are being laid in preparation for the installation of various other structures within the new area.
The Resort have also recently confirmed a number of further details regarding the new area. Opening in May 2017, LEGO® NINJAGO™ World will allow guests to journey through interactive NINJAGO scenes to test their agility, balance, speed and creativity in Zane’s Temple Build, Kai’s Spinners and Cole’s Rock Climb.
Headlining the new area will be NINJAGO™ The Ride, the first attraction in the UK to use 4D effects of heat, smoke and wind, alongside state of the art Maestro hand gesture technology, enabling riders to virtually throw fire balls, shock waves, ice and lightning using just their hands, and adapting to each rider’s playing style. This will combine with 3D projection throughout the ride to create a fully immersive experience. Seating up to four guests per vehicle, riders will battle against snake tribes, skeleton ghosts and King of the Skulkuns before having to work together to defeat The Great Devourer – a giant serpent.
Also featuring within NINJAGO™ World will be more than 20 new models including two five-foot guardian dragons, Master Wu, and the LEGO NINJAGO™ heroes.
Work has also been progressing on the Legoland Castle Hotel. Much of the building now has its exterior cladding and windows in place, ready for the final layer of themed brickwork to be installed. At the front of the building the cylindrical steel frameworks have been completed and will eventually form part of the turret theming at the entrance of the hotel.
