So this one has come out the blue. Thorpe Park have applied for permission to build a hotel on the current site of the mineral works next to the car park. The diagrams have been taken from a huge planning application on the Runnymede Council website, featuring hotel, resort, travel, noise, and conservation plans.
The proposed hotel plan will consist of 250 bedrooms, restaurants, bars, conference facilities and a health club. As well as new landscaping, a new 375 space car park will be created along with a new building for staff accommodation.

It has a similar style to the original Alton Towers hotel, and with a lake side setting, should be an attractive complex. The plan also mentions the provision of a new boat service that links the hotel to the main park, which could be very nice.

All year round operation is to be expected which means the possibilities of winter theme park openings and exclusive ride time events to hotel guests.
