It was always going to be interesting to see how Thorpe Park could handle just a three month closed season. Opening for February half term for the first time, trip reports from opening day were generally quite negative. Not only did the park look messy in many places, small issues which could have been sorted relatively easily were not rectified over the closed period.
First three photos show the ‘Glass House Bar and Kitchen’, the former pub in the dome. It has been refurbished in to what looks like a trendy club from the outside.
Good to see that a large portion of the lake by Samurai has been infilled in preparation for the new roller coaster in 2009. Nice how they have left a water channel leading to Colossus’s loop area.
Many groups were seen at guest services, presumably complaining about ride availability. Attractions open were; Stealth, Colossus, Vortex, Zodiac, Quantum, X:\ No Way Out, Depth Charge and some of Ranger County. Flying Fish will be ready in March, photos below.
On a positive note, it is nice to see the park open at this time of year, must have been a strain for the staff to get the park ready in time, so thanks and well done for their efforts.
