Thorpe Park Resort turned up the jungle fever at the park last night, with the launch of its new attraction for 2015 – the I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! Maze.
As the park welcomed a whole host of former celebrity campmates, including Katie Price and David Haye, the launch allowed guests to try out the maze for the very first time. As guests enter the maze, they are welcomed by Ant and Dec in a specially commissioned video, unique to the attraction. Once the introductions are complete you are then guided through the maze by a selection of campmates who direct you through the hazards of the jungle and instruct you in the completion of each of the Bushtucker Trials – from Holely Molely where you have to find the hidden stars in chambers embedded in the wall, to battling uphill against the winds in Celebrity Cyclone.
Initial reactions to the previews were generally positive. Whilst most agreed that the attraction was excellently themed and fully immersed guests in the jungle environment, some guests going through the maze appeared not to benefit from all the effects within the attraction, and others commented that at times the route through the maze wasn’t fully clear causing confusion, which somewhat reduced the impact of their experience. Whilst many elements were well implemented, including some good performances from the actors within the maze, it would seem that there were a couple teething issues which will hopefully iron themselves out once the maze fully settles into the park. Overall, the new maze is an interesting addition to Thorpe Park Resort, which will appeal to both fans of the television show, and those looking for a fun attraction to do with a group of friends, as well as being a family friendly addition suitable for all over 8 years old. Time will tell if the maze will maintain its initial high energy levels and be an attraction visitors to the park will want to do more than once.
The Nemesis Inferno shop has also received a refurbishment, with a new, jungle themed photo counter for Nemesis Inferno, and a new selection of merchandise to compliment the attraction, from edible bugs and mini-beasts, to personalised t-shirts which offer you the chance to have your very own jungle camp style clothing – just like the shirts worn by celebrity campmates in the show.
Based on the popular ITV reality television show, which averages 10 million viewers an episode, the new maze puts guests through their paces in their very own Bushtucker Trials, inspired by the hit show. This latest partnership with ITV follows on from Thorpe Park Resort’s collaboration with Rovio to create Angry Birds Land in 2014, and successful partnership with Lionsgate for Fright Nights.
