Legoland Windsor Resort have launched a formal appeal against the refusal of the planning permission for the proposed new Haunted House attraction at the resort.

Originally submitted in May 2014, the application asked for permission to build a ‘Haunted House Ride Experience’. The new attraction would have seen visitors enter the new attraction through a themed queue line featuring a graveyard and spider’s web, before entering from the front entrance which will replicate a traditional haunted house and be based on the current LEGO ‘Monster Fighters’ brand. Once inside, guests will experience a 10 metre drop tower ride, similar to the drop ride found at Nemesis: Sub Terra at Alton Towers Resort.

However, despite being recommended for approval, the application was unanimously refused by councillors last August, citing concerns regarding the increase in traffic the new attraction would bring to the resort, despite the success of traffic management trials conducted on the roads surrounding the resort.

The application will now go through the formal appeals process at The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council, however, as yet there is no date for the appeal to be heard.
