Legoland Windsor Resort have submitted an application for a “certificate of lawfulness” to install a new family coaster at the Resort for 2020.

Proposed to be located in the Duplo Valley area of the theme park, the planned new family coaster would have a simple layout, with the circuit appearing to have a pinched loop design indicated on plans. Whilst the precise make and model of the coaster is not known, the lack of any significant elevation changes in the plans suggest that the coaster will either be powered, or wheel driven. Also planned is the installation of an operators’ cabin, photo collection booth, and queue line associated with the ride.

Although there are no clues as to the theming of the new attraction within the plans, its proposed location within Duplo Valley would suggest that the family coaster will fit in with the surrounding area, and therefore target the younger end of Legoland Windsor Resort’s target audience and also potentially be offered as young guests’ first coaster experience.

The planned ride is located within the boundary of the Major Developed Site, and therefore could be classed under permitted development meaning the Resort would not need to submit a full planning application. A similar process was used for the installation of ‘Jolly Rocker’ in 2009 and for the relocation of ‘Longboat Invader’ in 2016.

This latest application follows on from the recent full planning application for “Project Rex” – the redevelopment of Adventure Land set to open in 2021, and what is thought to be THE LEGO® MOVIE™ World.
