Colossus

With a world record setting 10 inversions, the installation of Colossus in 2002 marked Thorpe Park’s intention to become a high-thrill theme park. Confined within a compact 850m layout, riders experience a 95ft drop into a loop, brief airtime hill, cobra roll, double corkscrew, four consecutive clockwise heartline rolls and a final anticlockwise heartline roll before arriving at speed into the final brake run. Be sure to use the test seat before queuing for this attraction, as the restraints can be very unforgiving. The ride is best experienced from the front row, which provides an even more disorienting experience through the heartline rolls.

Opened: 2002 | Manufacturer: Intamin | Height Restriction: 1.4m* | Ride Photos? Yes | Fastrack? Yes
*There is also a maximum height restriction of 1.96m.

Rush

A larger-than-life swing, Rush is a high-intensity ride that forcefully pushes the ride arms back and forth using very audible pneumatics. Whilst providing incredible views if riders are able to keep their eyes open, the lack of over-the-shoulder restraints and force at which the arms are forced to move, produces an extremely intense feeling of vulnerability. Rush was also the first S&S Screamin’ Swing to be installed outside of the USA, and used the largest model available at the time.

Opened: 2005 | Manufacturer: S&S Power | Height Restriction: 1.3m | Ride Photos? No | Fastrack? Yes

Vortex

Providing entertainment to those sat relaxing in Fin’s or the benches outside, Vortex rotates and swings riders up-to heights of 65ft. This was the first park installation of the very successful KMG Afterburner series, which have travelled fairs all over the world.

Opened: 2001 | Manufacturer: KMG | Height Restriction: 1.4m | Ride Photos? No | Fastrack? Yes

Zodiac

Offering a thrilling ride with a low height restriction, Zodiac is popular with riders who aren’t yet able to ride some of the other bigger rides at the park. Utilising centrifugal force, the constant rotation of the ride pushes riders into the seat of their freely rotating gondola, allowing the ride to first spin horizontally, then gradually on an arm to around 87°, without the need for a restraint.

Opened: 2001 | Manufacturer: Huss | Height Restriction: 0.9m* | Ride Photos? No | Fastrack? No
*Anyone between 0.9m and 1.4m must be accompanied by someone 16 yrs or over.

Quantum

A treasured flat ride, Quantum is a ‘Magic Carpet’ attraction that rotates guests in an always level seating position around two pairs of rotating arms. Starting gradually rotating guests backwards and forwards, the ride then picks up speed creating an exciting airtime filled ride that rotates in both directions throughout the experience. With a 40 seat vehicle, the queue always moves quickly making a perfect experience to fit in at any time of the day.

Opened: 2003 | Manufacturer: Fabbri | Height Restriction: 1.2m | Ride Photos? No | Fastrack? No
